A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Shawn Yancy is an American news anchor and broadcast journalist. She anchors the evening news at NBC4 in Washington, D.C.

Previously, Shawn anchored WTTG-TV, Fox 5 News in Washington, D.C., and co-anchors Fox 5 News at 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. Yancy joined the Fox 5 News team in September 2001. During her second day at work turned out to be her first big story in Washington: The September 11th terrorist attacks. In 2006, Shawn was awarded an Emmy for “Outstanding News Anchor”.

In 2007, Yancy was awarded a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for an investigative series on The Asbestos Problems inside the National Institutes of Health. Shawn has been honored with various Associated Press and Golden Quill awards for her reporting on breaking news.

Shawn grew up in Indiana, where she discovered her love for journalism early, starting as a youth reporter in a high-school media workshop. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Ball State University, where she was also inducted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
